Cherry Tree
Softball Complex
Cherry Tree Softball
Complex is located behind
Cherry Tree Elementary at 13989 Hazel Dell
Parkway (just south of 146th Street).
Parking is available north and south of the
school in designated school parking lots.
Entrance to the complex is on the east side of
the complex closest to the south parking lot.
In 1990 the original Cherry Tree softball
complex was completed following the opening of
the Cherry Tree elementary school. This
facility featured two fenced fields with
enclosed dugouts, two non-fenced practice
fields, and three smaller fields. The
complex became the home of the IHSAA Class
4A Semi-State Softball tournament and hosted the
IHSAA State Softball tournament finals. After 20
years of regular use by thousands of softball
players of all ages, the facility was showing
its age. In 2008, the Carmel Clay school
board voted in favor of a $2.5
million renovation to Cherry Tree softball
complex. In the summer of 2008,
construction began as the entire complex was
leveled to the dirt. In the fall of 2008, the
fields were laid out and graded and outfield
grass planted. Thanks to a warm Indian
summer, by November the outfields were green
with new grass. In the spring of
2009, the fields started to take shape as
outfield fencing went up and construction was
started on the dugouts and central complex.
Construction continued throughout 2009 forcing
the Lady Hounds to play a season at Wodock
fields. Construction on the buildings,
fields, and batting cages was largely completed
by fall. In the spring of 2010, the final
touches were added to the four fields.
This renovation, while leaving the number of
fields unchanged, dramatically improved the
lighting, sound system, accessibility, safety,
playability and viewer convenience. For
the softball coaches, players, and families of
Carmel High School, the newly renovated Cherry
Tree Softball Complex is their long awaited
home field advantage.

All four diamonds
have skinned-infields and are irrigated for
maintenance of lawn areas and to control dust
levels. The varsity diamond is located in the
most optimum position (south west to north
east), and includes 500 permanent seats,
adjacent to the main support building. The
varsity and junior varsity fields are lighted
with downcast sports lighting fixtures to
minimize light spread to adjacent properties.
The support building
includes two floors of 2,500 square feet each.
The ground floor includes public restrooms,
concessions, grounds maintenance space, and
stair and elevator access to the second floor.
The second floor includes player lockers in a
dressing room which accommodates all three
teams, a private restroom for the teams, an
itinerant office for the softball coach,
pressbox facilities for the varsity and junior
varsity fields, and visual observation windows
for the freshman and practice fields.
Take a look at the
Lady Hounds schedule and join us for
a
game at our new Cherry Tree home!
Please help us
continue to be good neighbors to the surrounding
residential developments by respecting the
privacy of their homes and yards and parking
only in Cherry Tree Elementary parking lots.
