Head Coach,
Emily Good - Coach Good
is entering her sixth season as the Head Coach of
the Greyhound Softball Program and has compiled a
90-47 record. She served one season as the Freshman
Assistant before taking over in 2004. Previous
coaching experience includes: Head JV Coach, Terre
Haute South Vigo, 1997 - 2000; Varsity Assistant,
Terre Haute South Vigo, 2000 - 2001; Head Coach,
12-U Indiana Terror, Summer 2001 - 2002.
Coach Good graduated from
Indiana State University in 2000 with a B.S. in
Health Education and recently completed her Master’s
degree in Physical Education with an emphasis in
coaching. Emily is a full-time Health and Physical
Education teacher at Carmel High School.
Varsity Assistant Coach, Connie Fiems - Coach Fiems came to Indiana from
Moline, Illinois, to play softball for Indiana State
University. She graduated Cum Laude in 1991 with a B.S.
in Exercise Science. Her collegiate softball honors
include: 4-year starter, 2-year team captain, 2-year
All-Gateway Conference, 2-year All-Midwest Region,
3-year GTE Academic All-American, Indiana State
University Female Athlete of the Decade, and Missouri
Valley Conference All-Centennial Team.
Upon completion of her undergraduate
studies, Coach Fiems went on to graduate school at
Northwestern University to earn a Masters in Physical
Therapy in 1994. She has worked in a variety of settings
in physical therapy over the years but has been working
at the Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana since 1997
with a specialty in neurological impairments such as
traumatic brain injury and stroke. Coach Fiems also
serves as adjunct faculty at Indiana University's
Physical Therapy Program in the fall semester.
Coach Fiems' has been coaching at
Carmel High School since 2001. She served as the JV head
coach for 2 seasons and became the varsity assistant
coach in 2004.
JV Head
Coach, Sara Lufkin - Coach Lufkin is
back for her third season at Carmel. Before
joining the Greyhounds, she was attending Purdue
University where she worked with the Purdue Softball
program from 2003 – 2005.
Coach Lufkin
graduated from Purdue in 2004 with a B.S. in
Statistics, and went on to earn her M.S. in Health
and Kinesiology with an emphasis in coaching in
2006. She is a 1 Star Master Coach from the
National Fastpitch Coaches Association Coaches
College and has also taken several courses from the
National Sports Clinics' Softball Clinics. Coach
Lufkin is 35-6 with the Greyhounds including the
2007 Roncalli JV Invitational Champions and the 2008
MIC JV Champions. She is looking forward to another
successful season this year with the Greyhounds.
JV Assistant Coach, Rachel
Ward - Coach Ward is back for her second
season at Carmel. Last year she was the C-team head
coach and has moved into the JV assistant position this
year. She grew up playing softball, from little
league through high school. She has an immense
love for the game and is excited for her second season.
Coach Ward graduated from Indiana University in 2006
with an Elementary Education/Spanish degree. She
is a first year teacher at Mohawk Trails Elementary in
Carmel and teaches Spanish to grades K-5.
“C” team Head Coach, Kim Kercheval - Coach
Kercheval is excited to return to the Lady
Greyhounds Softball Program. Coach K came to
Indiana 9 yrs. ago from Mt. Zion, I'll. She has
a strong passion for the game which led to her
successful softball career. In addition to
playing softball for 16 yrs., Coach K has a
variety of coaching experience that expands from
Tots to collegiate athletes. Coach K has an
Elementary Education Degree from Indiana
University.
“C” team Assistant Coach, Amanda Holman
- Coach Holman is
back for her second year as a C team coach.
She was a catcher from Little League to high
school, but left the sport because of knee
pain and to focus on school. She enjoys the
game and is happy to have the opportunity to
coach again this year. Coach Holman has
been a teacher at CHS since 2001 after
student teaching at Clay Middle School and
the high school. She is currently
teaching AP Human Geography,
Geography/History of the World and Law
Education, but also teaches government and
economics.
Volunteer Coach, Heather Douglas - Coach Douglas played college softball and
golf at Millikin University, graduated in
December 2005 with her bachelors in Exercise
Science with a minor in Psychology.
Previous coaching experience was at
Champaign Centennial High School as the JV
Coach. Douglas also served as an assistant
coach in 12U ASA travel ball. She has been
playing softball since she could walk and
now enjoys a good game of slow pitch during
the summers.
